Engine Block Reboring Machine · MIG Welding Station · Hydraulic Press
A Lagos automotive technician with 15 years of engine overhaul experience was ready to formalise his operation into a standalone reconditioning centre — but the barrier was equipment. Engine block reboring machines with local after-sales support were nearly impossible to source legitimately in Nigeria, and the few available through grey channels came with no warranty, no commissioning, and no training. He needed a complete solution, not just a machine.
TME supplied and commissioned a precision engine block reboring machine rated for diesel
and petrol blocks from 50mm to 200mm bore diameter — covering everything from commercial
trucks to passenger vehicles. We paired it with a MIG welding station for block crack
repair and a small hydraulic press for bush pressing, creating a self-contained
reconditioning bay.
Beyond equipment, TME delivered two days of operator training on the reboring machine:
bore gauging, tool setting, feed rate calibration, and surface finish specification for
different engine types. The client's lead technician was running unsupervised by
day three of commissioning.
The reconditioning centre was processing its first customer engine within four weeks of equipment delivery. At full capacity, the facility now handles 35 engine reconditions per month — a volume that would have required sending blocks to specialist shops across Lagos, adding cost and turnaround time. The centre has since become the preferred reboring referral for three local workshops in the area.
Before TME, getting a proper reboring machine in Nigeria felt impossible. They brought the machine, commissioned it, trained my guys, and now we are the go-to shop in our area. That is exactly what I needed.
